FBI and Providence police released new video footage of the Brown University shooting suspect while continuing their search for the gunman who killed two students and wounded nine others on Saturday. The suspect remains at large despite a $50,000 reward offer.

Authorities investigating the deadly shooting at Brown University released new video footage Tuesday showing the suspected gunman's movements before and after the attack that killed two students and wounded nine others on Saturday. The FBI and Providence police released a video timeline that includes previously unseen footage of the masked suspect running through quiet residential streets near the Ivy League campus. Investigators believe the man was casing the area before carrying out the attack, according to Providence Police Chief Col. Oscar Perez. Despite the new evidence, authorities indicated they are no closer to identifying the suspect, who remains at large. In all released videos, the suspect's face is either masked or turned away from cameras. Officials can only provide a vague description of the gunman as stocky and approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall, wearing a dark two-tone jacket. The FBI has offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the Saturday shooting. Investigators have been canvassing Providence homes, yards and dumpsters, searching for additional video evidence or clues that might help identify the gunman. "We're asking for the public's assistance," Chief Perez said at a news conference, urging anyone who might recognize the suspect to come forward. "Even small details may be critical to this investigation." The investigation faced an early setback when authorities released a person of interest who had been detained at a Rhode Island hotel Sunday. Officials initially lifted the campus lockdown after the detention, but later announced the evidence pointed in a different direction, leaving questions about whether the focus on the wrong person gave the actual gunman more time to escape. The victims of Saturday's attack have been identified as Ella Cook, vice president of the Brown University College Republicans, and Muhammad Aziz Umurzokov, according to the Uzbekistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs. University President Christina Paxson described both students as "brilliant and beloved" members of the campus community. "Both were brilliant and beloved — as members of our campus community, but even more by their friends and families," Paxson said in a statement Tuesday. "Our hearts continue to be with them in their profound sorrow." A makeshift shrine of flowers and condolence cards has been erected outside the building where the shooting occurred. The university community is planning several tributes to the victims, including an online interfaith prayer service scheduled for Wednesday. Most of the nine wounded students remain hospitalized. The shooting has raised questions about campus security and the apparent lack of comprehensive video evidence from the attack. Some experts suggest that authorities' public appeals for help indicate they may be "backed into a corner" in their investigation. Providence residents and students expressed relief when the person of interest was initially detained Sunday, but that relief was short-lived when officials announced his release hours later. Mayor Brett Smiley acknowledged that investigators don't know whether the gunman is still in the area. The investigation continues with multiple law enforcement agencies working together, including Providence Police, the FBI Boston division, and Rhode Island State Police. Authorities are asking anyone with surveillance video from the area or any information about the shooting to contact investigators immediately.
